Berke Yildiz
Bioinformatics & AI Intern specialized in cBioPortal
Berke obtained a Bachelor’s degree in Molecular Biology and Genetics at Istanbul Medeniyet University, where he completed his thesis on differential gene regulation and drug repositioning in early HIV infection. This project relied heavily on transcriptomic analysis and systems biology approaches. Currently, he is pursuing his Master’s degree in Bioinformatics and Systems Biology at Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam / University of Amsterdam, with a growing interest in the applications of artificial intelligence in biomedical research.
At The Hyve, Berke works as a Bioinformatics & AI intern, focusing on the implementation and evaluation of Large Language Models for genomic query assistance in cBioPortal. His project aims to benchmark, optimize, and responsibly integrate AI into open-source platforms to improve the accessibility and reliability of cancer genomics data.
Outside of work, he enjoys cooking and baking, spending time in nature, being around animals, and relaxing with friends.
