The open-source platform for remote research studies and virtual clinical trials

RADAR-base is a modular solution for active and passive data collection, real-time streaming, harmonized data schemas, distributed storage and data exploration capabilities.

Services we offer

RADAR-base as a Service

This is the fastest and easiest way to run your remote patient monitoring study using RADAR-base. We offer an all-inclusive, fully managed solution to use RADAR-base in your remote patient-monitoring studies.

The RADAR-base stack can be easily deployed on-premise or in the Cloud using Docker or Kubernetes. The solution can also be set up in a private environment and configured to match specific study needs.

Hosting & Support

If desired, The Hyve can host RADAR-base and make sure the platform runs in a secure and private Cloud environment or on-premise.

Our developers can integrate additional devices, improve existing components or design and develop new features to meet our client’s needs.

Our experts can help you fully understand the platform and how to adapt it to suit your needs. This enables the use of RADAR-base on a self-service basis, without vendor lock-in.

What people say about The Hyve and RADAR-base

"I approached The Hyve to develop the ‘progress visualisation’ aspect of RADAR-base − a dynamic graph that visualises weekly completion rates of tasks in real time. The whole journey from conception to completion was extremely efficient and well-managed, and I worked with a software engineer who was able to produce exactly what I had envisioned in a very quick turnaround."

Katie White, Research Assistant at King's College London

“From our collaboration with The Hyve, the open-source RADAR-base platform has been utilised in our Trial@Home solution at CHDR. Trial@Home is a platform that enables us to collect data outside the clinical setting in early stage clinical trials for drug development. This allows us to monitor pharmacodynamics in a real‑world setting and provides added value to our customers.”

Vasileios Exadaktylos, Product Manager Trials@Home at Centre for Human Drug Research (CHDR)

"We use the RADAR-base platform in combination with various wearables as an instrument for continuous monitoring of subjects in early-phase drug trials. It enables us to reliably monitor pharmacodynamics in an at-home setting, which minimizes the burden for participants.”

Ghobad Maleki, Clinical Scientist at Centre for Human Drug Research (CHDR)

"A few years ago, we decided to invest in our institute-wide registry for patients and samples and make that data available to all researchers within our institute. We pursued this avenue together with The Hyve and they have been a tremendous help in developing new features, thinking about possible solutions and maintaining the platform.”

Patrick Kemmeren, Principal Investigator at Princess Máxima Center for Pediatric Oncology

“We were extremely impressed by the efficient and well-organized manner with which The Hyve approached our project. The use of developer time was transparently allocated. The developers were approachable and communicated clearly about their work on our project. We received quick responses to issues that arose during the testing phase, which made our tasks straightforward. The Hyve was also very patient throughout procurement procedures on our side.”

Isabel Yorke, Postdoctoral Research Associate, King's College London at AIMS-2-TRIALS

Scalable and Extensible

The modular and plugins-based architecture is easy to build and scale. It supports a wide range of wearable sensors and APIs and can be adapted to different study protocols and trial designs.

Open data standards

To ensure interoperability of the large amounts of raw sensor data and structured aggregated data generated, it is stored in schematized data formats that adhere to Open mHealth standards.

Real-time monitoring

Participants are monitored actively and passively. Near real-time data collection allows study managers to closely monitor compliance.

Apache 2 license-free

The RADAR-base stack is published under an open-source license and therefore free of license costs.

End-to-end solution

The platform can tackle everything, from participant registration, linking of devices and scheduling study protocols to compliance monitoring and data visualization.
