Who are you?
You have a background in the field of target discovery, bioinformatics and/or computer science, great communications skills and an affinity towards open science. You can be a bridge between end users and a technical team. You are comfortable making decisions where others are in doubt and are more of a generalist than a specialist. You are capable of convincing others through knowledge and reasoning and can keep an overview when there are many moving parts. Formal project management training is not required, but experience in similar roles can be helpful.
Who are we?
The Hyve is a young, international IT company employing software developers, solutions architects, and data engineers. We are dedicated to delivering solutions that support scientists in life sciences and healthcare R&D using open source software, open data, and open standards. Our vision is to enhance the quality and impact of biomedical research by providing biomedical informatics solutions, and we believe that open source is the way to do this.
We want to expand our Open Targets team, where we enhance early-stage drug development research with tools provided by the Open Targets consortium. The two main tools we support are the Target Validation platform and the Genetics Portal. The Target Validation platform deals with data from a variety of different sources and brings these together in a comprehensive way, while the Genetics Portal is focused on genetic evidence only allowing for a more detailed view of this particular type of data (GWAS). We help our clients by supporting these tools and are working with two of the Open Targets consortium partners to implement the tools within their organizations. In addition, we currently work with two other pharma companies outside of the consortium, and three others have expressed an interest in working with Open Targets in the near future.
