Who are you?
You are an excellent bioinformatician who has a strong affinity with programming and creating software. As a bioinformatician at The Hyve, you will add value to our tools by transforming and loading data into these, help clients to interpret the results, and help to develop new functionality on existing open source platforms. You are a fast learner, completely comfortable with Python, and enthusiastic about building and improving bioinformatic tools. It would be great if you have experience in genomics and already know your way around Open Targets Platform, Open Targets Genetics or similar tools. Experience with Docker, Spark, ClickHouse, and Elasticsearch is greatly appreciated.
Who are we?
The Hyve is a young, international IT company employing software developers, solutions architects, and data engineers. We are dedicated to delivering solutions that support scientists in life sciences and healthcare R&D using open-source software, open data and open standards. Our vision is to enhance the quality and impact of biomedical research by providing biomedical informatics solutions and we believe that open-source is the way to do this.
Currently, we want to expand our Open Targets team, where we enhance early stage drug development research with tools provided by the Open Targets consortium. The two main tools we support are Open Targets Platform and Open Targets Genetics. Open Targets Platform deals with data from a variety of sources and brings these together in a comprehensive way, while Open Targets Genetics is focused on genetic evidence and allows for a more detailed view of this particular type of data (GWAS). We improve and extend the existing software with new functionality, support for new data types and better integration with other applications.
