Vacancy: Data Engineer cBioPortal/Cancer Genomics

Who are you?

You are an excellent bioinformatician who has a strong affinity with programming and creating software. As a bioinformatician at The Hyve, you will add value to our tools by transforming and loading data into them, helping clients to interpret the results, and helping to develop new functionality on existing open-source platforms. It would be great if you have some experience in cancer genomics and already know your way around cBioPortal or similar tools. Experience with Pandas and Docker is greatly appreciated.

And we?

The Hyve is a boutique international Bio-IT consultancy company, employing data specialists and software engineers. We are the data & informatics service provider for life science organizations looking to align the data infrastructure with their research needs. We enable open science by developing and implementing open-source solutions and FAIRifying data in life sciences.
We are dedicated to delivering solutions that support scientists in life sciences and healthcare R&D using open source software, open data, and open standards. Our vision is enabling open science, and we do that by providing biomedical informatics solutions that enhance the quality and impact of biomedical research.

Currently, we want to expand our Cancer Genomics team, where we work with cBioPortal to facilitate cancer research and treatment. The focus is on understanding cancer by examining the molecular characteristics of the tumor, such as mutations and differences in gene expression or copy number, from both a research and clinical perspective. cBioPortal is used in a large number of cancer hospitals, research centers, and pharma companies around the world, requiring an increasing amount of data integration.
